Quick Q&A about “Fu-Lu-Shou”

KAI: If your friend asks what you have been up to lately, how would you tell them about this project?

eBoy: a. “Fu-Lu-Shou” is a project that tries to create an iconography that aims to challenge the viewer to reflect on Chinese tradition in a modern context.

(Appreciating the images and representation of “Fu-Lu-Shou”)

KAI: What do you know or think about Chinese traditional culture, maybe especially about “Fu-Lu-Shou”?

eBoy: a. It is fascinating to observe how traditional Chinese values like filial piety, harmony, and wisdom articulate and evolve in a modern technological and social context of this world.

KAI: Is there any little detail design of “Fu-Lu-Shou” that you would like to mention?

eBoy: a. The characters are built within a strict 3-dimensional grid system that has its origins in pixel art.

         b. We also tried to take functional production issues into consideration. This actually is an ongoing process. We’re open to update and improve the designs if necessary. In that sense, we do not see this (or any) design as final, but instead think of it as the best iteration possible at that point in time.

KAI: What are you most satisfied with this work?

eBoy: a. We love the vibe and “Chi” of the series. But we also appreciate the quality of the  collaboration process.

         b. The sneakers.

KAI: Would you name three key words of the impression of KAI?

eBoy: a. Professionalism

         b. Artistic acumen

         c. Awareness and empathy
